HEADQUARTERS:
London, UK
RECENT PROJECTS:
The Fortune Hotel (ITV1); LEGO Masters (Fox), The Hit List (BBC One)
UPCOMING TITLES:
Am I the A**hole? (Comedy Central UK)
Launched in 2012 by Karen Smith and now maintaining offices
in London, Glasgow and Cardiff, Tuesday’s Child has carved
out a reputation as one of the UK’s more innovative
entertainment producers. Or perhaps it’s more accurate to say
it’s built that reputation block by block, with one of its first big hits
being LEGO Masters, created with the Lego Group and airing in
more than 20 territories.
The past year saw three European markets sign on for a spin-off
of the format, LEGO Masters: Out of the Box, which was
commissioned for the Netherlands, Finland and Poland. But
there were other success stories as well: the new strategic
competition format The Fortune Hotel (pictured), produced for
ITV, has performed well, racking up 5.9 million streams and with
a second season on the way. Sweden’s TV4 will air the first
international adaptation of the show, while Norway’s TV2 will
debut a celebrity version later this year.
Meanwhile, the prodco’s “playalong pop quiz” for BBC One, The
Hit List, is now seven seasons deep, and has scored
adaptations in Spain, Finland, the Netherlands and France.
The company is also making strategic expansion moves, with
the most recent being the creation of a format-focused offshoot,
Curious Cat, headed up by James Donkin, who has returned to
Tuesday’s Child after a stint in development with UK prodco
Expectation. Tuesday’s Child also bought a controlling stake in
another UK indie, Interstellar, in 2023.
Coming soon: a comedy entertainment format based on the
popular Reddit thread, Am I the A**hole?, to be hosted by
comedian Jimmy Carr. —Barry Walsh
